Things I like

  • Kate Gibb is inspiring

    Kate Gibb is inspiring

Printmaker and illustrator Kate Gibb's use of color and texture is inspiring. Color is an energy and it invokes emotions in all of us. Her palattes are bright and energetic and paired with her compostion it makes the view feel like they're in the setting. I love when art moves me in this way. I feel the urge to grab a paintbrush and go into my sketchbook for hours. Thank you Kate!

  • My Friend Maia

Growing old gracefully is an area us young people often overlook. My grandparents are all in their 90's and going strong. My 93 year old Grandpa golfs three times a week. My 91 year old Grandmother on my father's side just won a gold metal in Tai Chi in the Senior Olympics. Way to go!

Enjoy this beautifully made video. I don't know Maia, but I strive to be as vibrant as she at 95.

Poetry Book Release Party -- My Cover Design in Print & Digital!

Michelle and I are collaborating again! I was honored Michelle asked me to design the front and back cover of her first 20 page poetry book titled Pulchritudinous Poetry THE BODY EARTH. Note: the book is thin so it didn't allow for any type on the spine. My goal was to fuze earth elements with a fresh lightness of natural beauty. I did the photography, illustration and design on this project. Hope you like the cover now go buy the book! See event details below.

    Catch & Release
    by Michell Bravo
    6/19/11

    Diving and swooning
    swirling and hurling
    tempting, delectable
    Bait

    The smallest of samplings
    Just barely a nudge
    and I’m hooked
    As You patiently
    Wait

    A stinging, sharp bite
    A swish and a flash
    And suddenly, gasping for
    Air

Put me back! Put me back!
    Back where?
    Back down there!
    Back deep in the
    warmth of my
    Lair

    The smell of You
    sticks to my sides
    Your fingerprint
    marked my left eye

    And next time I’ll err
on caution’s side of the port
    For there’s nothing worse
    to be lured
    from the depths
    to the surface
    Caught only for sport

Graphics from my new business card

I absolutely love vibrating colors. Here is a close up of the graphics on my current business card. I wanted a card that would look intriguing if it was seen laying on the sidewalk. Living in an artistic and innovative city like San Francisco, I wanted a card that jumped out at you. What do you think?

  • Reform Club Place Mat Design

    Reform Club Place Mat Design

Scott and I collaborated on a placemat for a restaurant called Reform Club. Reform Club is a pop-up restaurant, brought to you by Allyson Harvie (Citizen Cake, Ragazza), Becky Pezzullo (Undercover Supper, Bar Bambino), and Dion Jardine (Slanted Door, Heavens Dog). Email for reservations while they last! Sundays only from 6pm - 10pm info@reformclubsf.com

I had the idea to draw all different shaped edible and not so common lettuces. After drawing the lettuces I scanned them into Photoshop where Scott's skillz helped make this project possible in such a short amount of time. We laid them out in a loose way as if they'd just been picked from the garden. Then we chose a handwritten font and listed herbs to make a boarder. The written font resembles has an embroidered look at first glance. It was such a fun project that (shhhhh!) I would have done it for free....Who doesn't love talking, eating, and playing with fresh healthy food!

Here are more links to the restaurant. I can't wait to go!
